Surge Relief Systems (SRS) are integrated, skid-mounted packages designed to protect pipelines and process equipment from transient overpressure caused by sudden valve closures, pump trips, or other hydraulic disturbances.
The system operates by rapidly detecting pressure surges and relieving excess pressure through a dedicated surge relief valve to a safe disposal or recovery system. Typical configurations include surge relief valves (pilot-operated or direct-acting), high-accuracy pressure transmitters, fast-acting solenoid valves, accumulators, and a local control panel, all mounted on a single skid with interconnecting piping and instrumentation. Designed and manufactured in compliance with Saudi Aramco standards (SAES, SAMSS) and international codes such as ASME, API, and ISO, the SRS ensures precise response time and stable operation under dynamic surge conditions. The system’s modular design, redundant control logic, and maintenance-friendly layout ensure high reliability, safety, and long-term protection of critical pipeline infrastructure in oil & gas, petrochemical, and utility applications.
